The social reconstruction of l’Horta Sud starts with the associative movement

7 December 2024 – The Foundation has established a structural plan to promote the social reconstruction of the region after the devastating effects of the DANA. This process, which will be developed in several phases, focuses on the associative fabric as a key element to strengthen the community and respond to emerging needs.

Why is the associative fabric key?  

Associations are fundamental to guarantee social cohesion, as they create networks of affection and mutual support, they are formed by and for citizens, and they cover social areas that neither the administration nor the market can address.

With 52 years of history, the Huerta Sur Foundation reaffirms our commitment to these entities, especially in times of crisis like the present.

What are we doing?

The action plan includes three main phases with concrete actions:

1. Emergency: Organisation of donation campaigns to raise funds for the affected associations.
2. Reconstruction: Diagnosis of the damage to understand the impact and prioritise actions and processing of aid with criteria of fairness and agility to ensure that it reaches those who need it most.
3. Development: Distribution of extraordinary aid over the next four years, promotion of networks between entities to strengthen collaboration and self-organisation, and promotion of self-organised society, highlighting the potential of local associations.

This reconstruction process not only seeks to overcome the immediate consequences of the DANA, but also to consolidate a community model based on solidarity, mutual support and collaboration between entities.
