We support more than 20 organisations of older people and people with disabilities affected by the DANA
The initiative is carried out in collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation and works to ensure the continuity and well-being of the most vulnerable associative fabric.

19 November 2025 – The consequences of the DANA of 29 October 2024 continue to affect many organisations in l’Horta Sud, especially those made up of older people and people with functional diversity. In addition to material damage, these groups face added difficulties, such as the digital divide, which complicates the daily management of associations, or unwanted loneliness, which worsens the emotional impact left by the flood. For these organisations, personalised support and emotional accompaniment are essential to help them recover their usual functioning and keep their social role alive.
With this objective, since April, the Horta Sud Foundation has been developing, in collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, the Well-being Project, an initiative within the Recovery and Transformation Plan of l’Horta Sud after the DANA through the associative network, focused on supporting the most affected organisations. The project works to guarantee their continuity, strengthen their autonomy, and facilitate their daily management.
Currently, the project supports 22 organisations in the territory, representing more than 10,200 members. Since April, a needs assessment and diagnosis have been carried out, and personalised follow-up has been established with each organisation to address the main challenges they face: recovering lost documentation, providing administrative and digital support, and improving the emotional well-being of members.
Some of the results achieved so far include the creation of two summer schools for people with functional diversity —led by the organisations APAMI and ALDIS— and the completion of numerous procedures to improve the internal functioning of associations. Tax advice, amendments of statutes, and renewal of boards of directors have also been carried out. In addition, support has been provided to reduce the digital divide, especially among associations of older people, and the hiring of support staff has been facilitated to assist in the management and revitalisation of organisations.
Among the participating associations are the Retirees and Pensioners groups of Sedaví, Paiporta, Albal and Aldaia; UDP of Benetússer, Aldaia, Massanassa, Alfafar and Picanya; Progressive Women of Massanassa; Tyrius of Alaquàs, Sedaví, Aldaia and Massanassa; APAMI; ALDIS; EPA Catarroja and Aldaia; Paiporta Community Network; Alfafar Bobbin Lace Group; Horta Sud Senior Musical Group; Orba Neighbourhood Ceramists.
So far, more than €12,000 have been allocated to the implementation of the project, strengthening associative structures, improving management, and promoting the active participation of older people and people with functional diversity.
The Well-being Project is possible thanks to the close collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, an alliance that has enabled the provision of adapted and local responses to the organisations most affected by the DANA. It highlights the importance of the associative movement as a driver of cohesion, support, and social resilience.
