Visit of the Tot Raval Foundation to share experiences and learnings on community work
15 December 2025 – A few weeks ago, we welcomed the Tot Raval Foundation to our headquarters for a day marked by dialogue, closeness and the exchange of knowledge. As community foundations, we know that connecting and sharing experiences is essential to strengthening networking and making communities more resilient and cohesive, and this meeting has been a clear example of that.
We took the opportunity to learn more about the perspective and working approach of the Tot Raval Foundation, a team that carries out its work in one of the most diverse and intense areas of Barcelona. Their experience promoting community processes, weaving alliances among organisations, neighbours and facilities, and always placing people at the centre, was especially inspiring. Their way of understanding social cohesion, networking and participation reinforces our conviction that deep change is born from the community and from the alliances we are capable of building.
For their part, the Tot Raval team was able to learn firsthand about the work we have carried out over the past year, especially the joint efforts with hundreds of associations to address the consequences of the DANA on 29 October 2024. The community response, financial support and ongoing accompaniment to local organisations were some of the aspects that generated the most interest.
Both foundations agree on the need to continue strengthening alliances between organisations working for social cohesion and community development. This meeting reaffirms our shared commitment to a more just, participatory and interconnected society built around a vibrant and active civic network.
We thank the Tot Raval Foundation for their visit and their interest in getting to know our work up close. Very soon, we will be the ones visiting the Raval to continue sharing, learning and building community together.
About Tot Raval
The Tot Raval Foundation is a network of more than fifty social, educational, cultural and commercial organisations, along with individuals linked to the neighbourhood, who work together to strengthen social cohesion, coexistence and quality of life in the Raval, one of the most diverse and densely populated areas of Barcelona.
The foundation promotes community projects, encourages participation and associationism, provides spaces for networking and acts as a key interlocutor in addressing shared challenges in the neighbourhood. It also works to improve the image of the Raval, promoting a collective, intercultural identity that is constantly evolving.
