Now available: «When the Community Sustains. One Year of Community Response and Development after the DANA»

12 December 2025 – On 29 October 2024, everything changed. The lives of thousands of people were shattered, paralysed or, in the best of cases, deeply altered. L’Horta Sud and its people became the epicentre of the catastrophe caused by the DANA, with flooded streets, damaged homes, towns brought to a standstill and a social and emotional wound that is still present today.

But amid so much devastation, there was also a response that will not be forgotten: spontaneous solidarity, mutual aid, the capacity to organise and to sustain one another.

In the publication «When the Community Sustains» you will find a compilation of the work carried out by the Fundació Horta Sud between 29 October 2024 and 29 October 2025. We share what we have done, what we have learned and what impact all the actions undertaken have had thanks to the support of more than 17,000 donors.

Thanks to all these people, companies and organisations, we have been able to allocate 3 million euros to strengthening the social fabric, reaching more than 435 associations and 135,000 direct beneficiaries.

This publication is also a heartfelt thank you to all the people, organisations, businesses and groups that have been part of this collective response. Because every step forward, every initiative and every action has been possible thanks to the trust and contributions of those who chose to join in.
