More than 50% of the associative movement of Horta Sur has been directly affected by the DANA

28th of november de 2024 – According to the Huerta Sur Foundation’s Studies on the Evaluation of the Impact of the Associative Movement, there are around 2,000 associations in our region. Of these, it is estimated that more than 50% have been directly affected by the DANA.
The Report on the Impact of DANA on the associative movement carried out by the Foundation also highlights that the whole region has been affected to a greater or lesser extent. Of the total number of municipalities, 12 were considered to have been very badly affected and 8 were considered to have been affected.
Bearing in mind that there are more than 480,000 inhabitants in the region and that approximately 35% of the population is part of an association, it is estimated that 75,000 people are associated with the municipalities that have been severely affected.
Associations change reality. They organise, structure and energise community life in different areas. Without them, there is no future. That is why their recovery is so important.
