Fundations with a recognized track record meet in l’Horta Sud to strengthen social and community reconstruction after the DANA

14 November 2025 – Yesterday, at our headquarters, in the Museu Comarcal, we hosted a meeting with foundations of recognized trajectory, coming from different parts of the State and from diverse fields of action. The gathering made it possible to share information, compare perspectives, and move forward in the joint commitment to the recovery of l’Horta Sud after the DANA that affected our region.
Thus, we shared the need to promote the reconstruction of the territory from a local and non-finalist perspective. In this line, the participating organizations showed a clear alignment in understanding the work of the Foundation, based on strong roots in the territory and on sustained cooperation that prioritizes open and continuous processes.
From the Foundation, we presented our action plan, which combines immediate measures with a long-term strategy. We are aware that the challenges facing the region require continuity, which is why we work to consolidate a stable network of collaboration with the foundations that have offered their support. We also shared data, assessments and experiences that help better understand the current needs of organized civil society in l’Horta Sud.
The visit also included a direct look at the Salvem les Fotos project, one of the lines of the recovery plan. This project aims to safeguard the memories of affected people and preserve collective memory through the restoration and treatment of photographs damaged by the DANA. The attending foundations visited the exhibition “Memory and Resilience. Photography as a testimony of life”, where they were able to learn about specific examples of the process and its community impact.
From the Horta Sud Foundation, we express our gratitude for the willingness and commitment shown by all attending organizations. This meeting represents progress in the work towards a complete and sustainable recovery of l’Horta Sud, centered on people and on collaboration with all the organizations committed to the territory.
Recovery and Transformation Plan 24–28
To address the consequences of the DANA and strengthen the associative fabric of the territory, the Foundation is working on a Recovery and Transformation Plan with a common fund. Among the actions we are developing are the creation of a Community Space, which will respond to the lack of spaces for the organizations of l’Horta Sud; the Salvem les Fotos project, which is restoring more than one million photographs from 460 affected families; the Wellbeing project, through which we are supporting 22 organizations of older people and people with disabilities; the call for inter-associative project grants Transformem en Xarxa, which has funded 69 projects with an investment of 300,000 euros; and a study on youth and solidarity after the DANA.
