The Horta Sud Community Foundation and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation join forces to promote social reconstruction in areas affected by DANA

 13th march 2025 – The Horta Sud Foundation and the Vicente Ferrer Foundation have established a key relationship to strengthen the associative fabric affected by DANA through various lines of support focused on ensuring the continuity of association activities and expanding their impact on society.

On one hand, the Vicente Ferrer Foundation has fully financed the third round of aid promoted by the Horta Sud Foundation, which amounts to 371,370 euros and is intended for 120 affected associations. On the other hand, it has allocated additional funds, amounting to 300,000 euros, to entities working in the fields of social assistance, childhood, mental health, and support for the elderly, in order to strengthen the work of those associations that have already received aid from the Horta Sud Foundation but still need more resources to ensure the continuity of their projects.

This partnership has been formalized through the signing of an agreement aimed at establishing a solid foundation for joint work to address social and community challenges arising from the DANA crisis and other emerging needs.

At the signing event, the Foundation’s director, Julio Huerta, and project coordinator, Laura Juan, as well as the head of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation delegation in Valencia, Sergio Moratón, were present. Additionally, this meeting, which took place at the Horta Sud Regional Museum, served as an opportunity for Vicente Ferrer to learn firsthand about the project and the work of the Horta Sud Foundation, as well as the affected area.

“We are very grateful for the collaboration with the Vicente Ferrer Foundation, which allows us to continue supporting associations affected by DANA. This alliance is essential to face social challenges and ensure solid and sustainable reconstruction,” said Julio Huerta.

For his part, Sergio Moratón, delegate of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation in the Valencian Community, emphasized that “at the Foundation, we have been working hand in hand with communities for decades because we firmly believe that they know their needs best. Our role is to accompany, listen, and support processes driven by the people themselves. That is why this alliance with the Horta Sud Foundation makes so much sense: we share the conviction that collective strength and community roots are essential to rebuilding and transforming.”

With this initiative, both Foundations reinforce their commitment to associationism as a driver of social transformation, consolidating the role of local entities in improving the quality of life of citizens.

Third round of aid

According to data collected in recent weeks, the beneficiary associations have reported material losses amounting to approximately 1.9 million euros. The main declared damages are concentrated in infrastructure (802,006 euros), equipment (375,084 euros), furniture (453,186 euros), rentals (110,337 euros), and technical equipment (119,831 euros), among others.

With this third round of aid, which impacts 26,330 associated people in the Horta Sud region and other affected areas, we conclude the direct aid distribution to the associative fabric affected by DANA, with a total impact of 1.4 million euros across 333 associations. From now on, we begin a new stage focused on long-term reconstruction, prioritizing initiatives that foster community resilience and the sustainable development of the affected territories.
