Present in different spaces to make social reconstruction possibles

6th february 2024 – Just over three months after the DANA, various spaces are shaping the reconstruction of the affected areas. Among them are the Committee of Expert Voices promoted by the Spanish government, the Employment and Work Group led by the Government Delegation, and, at the regional level, the Reconstruction Commission promoted by the Mancomunitat Horta Sud. In all of these, we at Fundació Horta Sud are actively participating to bring forward the voice of social reconstruction, which must enable the restoration of support networks, connections, and solidarity within the region.

In each of these spaces, we share the stage with other social actors, such as the Coordinadora de ONGD, CERMI, and the Youth Council in the national committee; organizations like IDECO Horta Sud and Colectivo Soterranya in the regional commission; and trade union representatives in the Employment and Work Group. Additionally, we work alongside the relevant public administrations, economic stakeholders (Instituto Empresarial de l’Horta Sud, business associations, and employers’ organizations), and experts from the academic sector.

Promoting Shared Governance

All these initiatives highlight a governance model that includes the associative movement, public administration, the business sector, and universities. This methodology aligns with the principles of the Serà Horta Sud 2030 alliance.

In this regard, Serà Horta Sud is also resuming its activities, continuing the work already initiated in the areas of sustainable mobility, clean energy, sustainable economy, participation and governance, and green cities. One example is the initiative, in collaboration with organizations such as AeioLuz, Amigos de la Tierra, Plataforma por un Nuevo Modelo Energético, Greenpeace, and Ecooo, among others, to call on the central government for measures against energy poverty that provide greater support to households affected by the DANA.

Additionally, we are promoting meetings with associative networks involved in land stewardship and university experts to outline an inspiring and viable future that protects the two natural parks connecting l’Horta Sud and provides consensus-based solutions regarding the ravines.
