The associative network of l’Horta Sud receives the first half a million euros in aid as a result of resource mobilization

December 18, 2024 – Less than two months after the DANA that devastated l’Horta Sud, many associations are already working to resume their activities as soon as possible. To contribute to this, we have already made effective the first round of aid resulting from the fundraising campaign, amounting to €565,828. 

With this first round of aid, linked to the needs assessment of the associative network (which remains open), up to 20% of the requested damages will be covered for a total of 110 associations. In this first phase, which includes data received until Monday, December 9, losses of €3.8 million have been reported. This data refers to approximately 13% of the associative network in the zero zone of the DANA. 

By areas of activity, social and festive entities have received €200,000, over €115,000 has gone to cultural and heritage entities, more than €110,000 to social assistance entities, and €66,000 to sports entities. On the other hand, by municipality, Paiporta is the municipality receiving the most aid (€208,000), followed by Catarroja (€108,000), Aldaia (€81,000), Alfafar (€52,000), and Massanassa (€47,000).  

According to the Impact Evaluation of the Associative Network studies, there are more than 1,000 affected associations in the zero zone, directly producing more than 2,000 jobs, both full-time and part-time, and generating more than €20 million annually through their activities. 

The aid delivered represents a first step in the recovery of life in l’Horta Sud, but it is also essential to consider the social reconstruction dimension, as estimated material losses of the associative network in the zero zone will exceed at least €16 million.

For this reason, citizen solidarity is crucial to continue making the social reconstruction of l’Horta Sud possible.
